Panic Attacks Should Be Treated

October 24, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

If panic attacks are not treated, they will continue, and often worsen, over time. The most common time for the onset of panic attacks is the adolescent and young adult years, though some older adults can experience their first panic attacks at advanced ages.

An ordinary teenager who starts to have panic attacks and does not do anything to stop them, or get help for them, will have to deal with the attacks for many years, probably for a lifetime. Treatment can be started at any time, but heading off attacks early is best.

If panic attacks do not get treated they tend to cause additional problems. Often, these other problems are closely related to the dread of having other panic attacks. Some patients are so terrified of having attacks that they do almost anything to avoid them, but this usually does not work out because of the fact that panic attacks really can not be accurately predicted. Hiding from panic attacks will not work, and it can sometimes just make them much worse.

Complications From Panic Attacks

There are quite a few complications that panic attacks can cause, and while they vary by person, these are fairly typical results of untreated panic attacks. Some of these complications can include:
Phobias such as agoraphobia, or being scared to go outside, being scared of social encounters, feeling depression, poor school grades, bad work performance, financial problems, and substance abuse.

Those people who suffer from full blown panic disorder have even more severe problems because they have a higher risk rate for the development of heart disease. The reasons for this are as yet unknown.

If panic attacks are not treated, the consequences can be very severe. Panic attacks will not improve without treatment, and it’s important to seek help before the panic attacks render you unable to live a normal life. The Panic Away program is a very proactive way to banish panic attacks from your life because it uses proven psychological techniques that are easy to follow, quick to do, and do not require you to use dangerous medications with serious side effects.

Nobody should have to live with panic attacks. Having to suffer from panic attacks can really put a severe damper on your life, and there is no reason that you need to live with that when there is help available for you.
